A portion of a donation to Poipet town police from a wealthy businessman has been spent on coffins for Banteay Meanchey province’s poor and needy, according to city police chief Om Sophal.

Sophal said yesterday enough money was donated by local beer wholesaler Eng Men Srun to buy 30 coffins across the border in Thailand at 700 Thai Baht (roughly $20) apiece.

The coffins will be distributed to families that cannot afford them.

“These coffins are for people who are poor and living in rural areas and cannot afford the cost,” said Sophal.

“The only condition is that they must be poor.”

The cpp police make coffins for their own funerals.Very good idea though I must admit.
