PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday vowed to resolve the ongoing border issue and called on opposition party lawmakers to work with his government to confirm specific border demarcations.
Mr. Hun Sen also said members of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party were contradicting each other.
While some opposition lawmakers claim the ruling party is using fake maps to demarcate the border, the party’s own president, Sam Rainsy, has rebutted these allegations, he said during a speech at a graduation ceremony in Phnom Penh. “France produced the maps, thus, we are using those maps to confirm and verify the maps we have been using to resolve the crisis with Vietnam legally,” he said.
“We would like to borrow the Cambodian border maps with French experts, because France was the producer of the maps and can confirm that issue. We will let other political parties move through the country to verify and inspect the maps,” he added.
CNRP lawmaker Real Camerin applauded Mr. Hun Sen’s statements and welcomed the chance to verify the border maps. “We want to incorporate our efforts with the governments regarding Cambodia’s border map demarcation efforts,” he said.
Inspecting Border Markers
Officials from Cambodia and Vietnam inspected border demarcation markers 202 and 203 in Svay Rieng province’s Kampong Ro district yesterday, where a clash between activists led by CNRP lawmakers and Vietnamese villagers occurred last month.
Mr. Camerin said CNRP members and NGOs working along the border were excluded from the process. “That’s unacceptable,” he said, explaining that he did not support a process that excluded the CNRP.
“This is a governmental affair. So, they [CNRP lawmakers] cannot join us,” Koy Pisey, deputy president of the Joint-Border Committee, said. “They were the ones who provoked trouble there,” she added.
She said that after the inspection both governments will release the results of their investigation.

CNRP is so rude. It's not your job and you claim CPP is not doing a job good enough. You try to seize power and insert yourselves into the job of someone else.
I say, give you some batons. Oh wait, imagine the day, CNRP try to give themselves the jobs of wielding batons. lol...
Remember 1997? The opposition tried to give themselves the jobs of taking over the Khmer Rouges' arm force, CPP just crushed the opposition.
DO NOT GIVE YOURSELVES A JOBS FOR SELF-SERVING. Or you will be served some batons.
