PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Cambodia on Friday deported 31 Vietnamese immigrants including two females back to their country after Cambodian authorities arrested them for illegally living in the country.

The illegal immigrants were expelled via Svay Reing province's Bavet international border gate.

"This deportation is the implementation of the Cambodian Immigration Law and proclamation issued by Interior Minister," said major general Ouk Hai Seila, head of General Department of Immigration's Investigation and Procedure Department.

"We are planning to deport more immigrants with 13 nationalities as we already received the directive from the Ministry of Interior”, he said.

“We are just waiting for their embassies to pay them the air tickets," he underlined.

From January this year, Cambodia has deported 528 illegal immigrants including 117 females with 33 nationalities. Of them, 437 are Vietnamese, according to report of General Department of Immigration.
