PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The National Assembly will cut some jobs in this fifth legislature in order to enhance the quality of its officials, an official said Tuesday.
"Some staff don't work, but they receive pay by just only coming to provide thumbprints," parliament's spokesman Chheang Vun said in a new conference, adding that the National Assembly is currently employing 1,300 people.
Vun, also president of the National Assembly's commission on foreign affairs, cooperation, information and media, also defended the parliament's deputy secretary general, Mith Karen, who was accused by CNRP's lawmaker, Son Chhay, of nepotism.
Recently Son Chhay accused Mith Karen of using his power to appoint his relatives to hold main positions in the National Assembly, and has asked the National Assembly to look into the case. Read about Son Chhay's crusade against corruption at the National Assembly.

Can anyone clarifies who is telling the truth about nepotism in our National Assembly? Was it true that Mitt Karen appointed his relations to the position in GOV'T? If so,why ah Phnorng Vun defences the nepotism? Ah Phnorng Vun defences Yuon,defences corruptions,defences nepotism etc.Whar was wrong with him? Put the term limit to these career's politicians to get rid of conflict of interest....!
Was it true: Kem Sokha criticized the excessive aids in National Assembly, but then he himself was giving 21 aids. He had more aids than most other National Assembly law makers.
So, Kem Sokha is not practicing what he criticized. Correct?
