Cambodian PM discusses bilateral ties with visiting Thai FM

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday met with new Thai Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation.

Tanasak, who is also deputy chief of the National Council for Peace and Order, said his visiting entourage consisted of Thai government cabinet members and high-ranking military officers.
"Our visit is to maintain and further develop good relations with Cambodia both bilaterally and multilaterally in the framework of ASEAN," he said. "Thailand is ready to work with Cambodia to advance ties and cooperation for mutual interests."
For his part, Hun Sen expressed gratitude to Thailand for providing legal status to Cambodian migrant workers.
He said Cambodia was keen to cooperate with Thailand to build the border of the two countries as the border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
The prime minister stressed that it was essential to narrow dispute and increase cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and tourism for the benefits of the two countries and peoples.
Cambodia and Thailand have not settled their dispute over a 4.6 square km piece of land next to Cambodia's Preah Vihear temple.

The Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in November that Cambodia had sovereignty over the whole territory of the promontory of Preah Vihear temple, and ordered Thailand to withdraw its armed forces from that territory.
So far, the two countries have not started talks over the implementation of the ICJ's ruling.
Tanasak arrived here on Monday morning for a one-day official visit. Earlier in the day, he held talks with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh.

This new military Thai govt. has a lots of leverages to get it's lower house of parliamentry to abide by ICJ verdicts in November 2013. What more excuse do these Siam have this time. They delayed tactics no matter who in charged.

Cambodia govt. must pressures them to abide by ICJ verdicts. It had been 2 years now since the ICJ verdicts. The longer they stayed the harder to push them out. These Siam troops are dug in. Who know what they secretly doing at night. We had been very patience with them already. If we lost the ICJ case Cambodia troops would had already gotten kick out of there since the first month after the verdict. Showed Cambodia govt. and her corrupted armed forces are weak and pathetic. We can't even defended 4.6 sq. km patch of land, how can we defend 895 km long border with these thief neighbors. Cambodia do not want war and war are bad for us but sometimes as a sovereign nation you have to make a stand. Every independent nation on Earth protected their territories against invaders no matter how big the enemies are. In this case Cambodia have a good chances of winning this fight. Siam do not wanted a full scale war. They knew they can win at early stages but they will not able to get out. They can loose much more because their country are already well industrial built and we are not. Their infrastructures will take much more damages than ours. I hope our military realized this. We had the tactical advantages. Our troops less equipped but much more experiences and braver.
They just needed a well led commanders and govt. A peaceful solution would be a preferable ways and it must done soon. No more excuse. The laws are on our side.
