On 7 January, MP Sam Rainsy who is the president of Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) released a statement to express his point of view on the meaning of the day. In his short introduction he stated that:" Only the traitors support the 7 January for it was the day on which Vietnam invaded Cambodia."
The statement has sent a very strong message to all Khmer people who are being brainwashed by the Cambodian People´s Party (CPP) day and night through its controlled media in the country to wake up.
As we know, the CPP has nothing better to propagandize to the people since the national election 1993 until today and in the future than this 7 January claiming it was the second birthday of all Khmer people whose lives were salvaged from the Pol Pot regime by the CPP itself and Vietnam.
Now the day is officially registered as the national day on which every year it is celebrated with a big show off nationwide to extol the august leaders of the CPP -Hun Xen, Chea Sim, and Heng Samrin, and demand for gratitude from our people.
The propaganda of the 7 January spreads like wild fire throughout the country from the old to the young. It is mentioned everywhere wherever Hun Xen goes and repeated clearly and loudly by his subordinates from the top to grassroots until they, undoubtedly, all recognize that it is the “Day of the Second Birthday of Their Lives.”
The CPP’s propaganda machine under Vietnam’s help psychologically understands that the majority of Khmer people are Buddhists who always consider the help from others as the priceless gratitude which must be paid back.
Fortunately, our people are smarter now and the problem is that they have less chance to listen to other leaders whose ideas are different from that of the CPP’s propaganda. This trend worries the CPP because this can surely undermine its political status-quo for the mindset of our people can be changed through this clear-cut message of PM Sam Rainsy.
The reaction is harsh from the CPP which are broadcasted and published in its entire controlled media - TV channels, radios and newspapers in order to regain political sympathy from the people and psychologically attack the SRP. The reaction is even raised by the CPP in the recent meeting on 13 January 2012 between National Election Committee and political parties which participate in the senate election.
Politically and reasonably, the statement of MP Sam Rainsy is applauded by our people domestically and internationally for they believe that the 7 Janaury is absolutely the invasion day of Vietnam and they share the condemnation with MP Sam Rainsy for those who support this day. It is also believed that there are some people who are not traitors but support this 7 January. This is motivated by the emotional reason which is unbearable during the Khmer rouge regime which the statement of MP Sam Rainsy is understandable and categorically doesn’t generalize on them.
To our understanding the statement does hit the nail for those who support this day blindly will deserve to be called traitors. It means that to support this day is to support the Vietnamese invasion in 1979, the killing of our people in the K5 policy, the lost of maritime areas like Koh Tral and its surroundings for about 25000 km2 and the historical water for 10000km2, the lost of land borders which keep moving deep into our country from year to year leading to the loss of our people’s farming lands endlessly, and, worst, the anarchical influx of illegal Vietnamese into our country which all of these caused by the illegal 1980s’ treaties signed by Hun Xen’s regime under Vietnamese control.
Lastly, our most concern is that this statement may be consistently used as political tool of the CPP besides regaining its political support sympathy is to demoralize the SRP and create indiscriminately hatred towards the SRP among its extreme or die-hard supporters which can cause a very negative response in the future. The CPP surely can do this for naturally the CPP has been ruled through its ruthless political cunning spread through its entire controlled media and carried out nationwide by its die-hard members from the top to the grassroots

Because those Viet bastards doesn't want to admit their weakness. They just wanted to show their superiority over its neighbors.
If Khmers are smart they could turn the anarchical influx of illegal Vietnameses in Cambodia into an asset rather than liability.Teach them Khmer way of life, treat them well first. Khmers tend to treat even Khmers really badly if one become richer and the other poorer.Therefore the hatred and revenge were manifested from time to time and perpetuate forever.The result is like, the savage force eviction from tycoon group leads to a genocidal group establish to make revenge against the first group in cycle.Khmers can be very jealous and disrespwecful and self centered.Regardless of what they did they all wanted to go to heaven after they die.
