A RETIRED British teacher has been charged with molesting five young boys in Cambodia.

Reginald Blakeley, 70, is alleged to have preyed on children as young as seven.

He was held after investigators secretly filmed him approaching youngsters outside schools. One shot showed him with his arms draped round a lad of primary school age wearing a replica Manchester United shirt.

Eleven boys in the northern city of Siem Reap complained to cops about the pensioner's behaviour.

Doung Thavary, deputy bureau chief of the provincial anti-human trafficking police, said: "Five of them said he committed indecent acts on them."

Blakeley has visited Cambodia — a notorious haunt for Western paedophiles — five times since 2010. Child protection group Action Pour Les Enfants said it monitored him after claims of indecency.

Blakeley was filmed near children at a rice porridge stall outside two schools near the world-famous Angkor Wat temples. Investigators claimed Blakeley, who taught English at a local school, gave kids money.

APLE case officer Long Samnang alleged: "He would pretend to be playing with the children and start hugging them."

Blakeley, from Poole, Dorset, is in custody and faces trial at Siem Reap Provincial Court. He faces up to three years' jail and a £10,000 fine if convicted.

A relative said: "We hope and believe he is innocent and has just been tricked."
